Norwegian Christmas facts and recipes

Author Arnhild Knight has written an extensive Norwegian cookbook, Heritage of Home Traditions and Recipes of A Norwegian Christmas, that details the Norwegian Christmas preparations, facts and recipes. Her writing is lively and fact-filled. You will learn how Norwegians prepare to celebrate Christmas including how there is a Little Christmas, Christmas Eve, First Day of Christmas, The Second Day of Christmas followed by Romjul (After Christmas).
According to Knight, preparations for Christmas start in the fall when preserved and pickled foods are prepared. Later the house is thoroughly cleaned and more Christmas preparations follow.

Brought back memories

Many of the customs in this book were observed in the small Norwegian town I grew up in in Minnesota. I especially appreciated the recipes, but missed the lutefisk which was our traditional Christmas Eve supper.

This book does not have correct recipes. They are mislabeled and the recipes listed are for different foods than the title of the recipe. I would return it, but they won't let me.
