Comprehensive, though a bit diffuse...

I have purchased every Riso or Riso/Hudson project, my all time favorite being the revised, orange-covered "Personality Types." The style and content of "Wisdom of the Enneagram" is broader than "Personality Types" and perhaps tries to accomplish too much, with the effect of losing some of the clarity and succinctness of "Personality Types." BUT (!), ANY Riso/Hudson book about the Enneagram is a GOOD one and a MUST HAVE! There are lots of fresh insights and "spins" on Enneagram wisdom in this one. Of all the growing number of Enneagram authors out there, Don Riso has been, is, and will likely remain my favorite. His understanding of the Enneagram - in both theory and application - is rich and deep. Something about his interpretations seem to resonate more harmoniously with "how I see it", too. A definite "must" purchase to round out one's collection of Enneagram literature!

Impressive contribution

This book has some of the most practical psychology advice I've ever read. I have many books on Jungian psych and after I bought this one there were only a couple others that could even come close. The sidebars are helpful and the writing is very effective overall. Not so packed with information that it's hard to read, but dense enough (and thick enough) that you are getting an amazing deal by buying this.

The deepest and most systematic enneagram book yet

This is the authors' deepest book by far. It takes us into the inner mystery of the Enneagram as a system of personalities, not just a list of nine types. In part I, chapter 5, "The Triadic Self", the authors describe a number of tripartite schemas for dividing personality types so that the reader can observe the amazing way that these triads form symmetrical triangles on the geometrical configuration of the enneagram.
In chapter 6, the authors describe the way that each type embodies traits of one (and only one) of its two neighboring types. In the same chapter, the authors explain the movement along the inner lines of the enneagram as each type progresses to the positive characteristics of the next type in one direction or regresses to the negative characteristics of the next type in the other direction.
In the description of each type, the description of the developmental dimension for that type - from the most unhealthy to the most enlightened - adds considerably to our understanding.
Finally, the entire book puts the study of type within context of A. H. Almaas' framework of psycho-spiritual development. I have studied the enneagram off and on for thirty-five years, and this book has re-engaged me and deepened my understanding.
