About the Author

AbdouMaliq Simone is an urbanist and Professor of Sociology at Goldsmiths College, University of London. Since 1977 he has had many jobs in different cities across African and Southeast Asia, in the fields of education, housing, social welfare, urban development, and local government. About the Author

Fred Van Dyke is a professor of biology at Wheaton College (Illinois). He has previously served on the faculties of Northwestern College (Iowa) and the Au Sable Institute for Environmental Studies, as a wildlife biologist for the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, as a scientific and professional consultant to the U. S. National Park Service, the U. S. Forest Service, the Pew Charitable Trust, and to various private environmental and conservation consultants. He is the author of numerous publications on animal home range and habitat use, management and conservation of animal populations, management of successional processes to conserve habitat, and conservation values and ethics.

It was in good shape but the binding seems to be really weak. I was concerned it was a problem with my book, but then I saw a classmate's binding completely rip, so it must be a problem with the publisher.

An excellent guidebook for engineers and non-technical users

The book is intended to be the introductory laser textbook and also intended to be utilized as a professional reference book for laser engineers and non-technical laser users that requiring a knowledge of the basic fundamentals and the latest advances in laser. In addition to the pedagogy within the book, the author develop the entire text into a coherent treatise starting from basic principles, and makes the book a joy to read. This is one of the best lasers books today, fun and easy to use, excellent overview and excellent explanations. This book covers the most important aspects of lasers. It has information on many types of lasers and includes a lot of practical information. The author is really interested in teaching the subject. It is an excellent book.
